Active Crisis Leadership Support
ACTIVE CRISIS LEADERSHIP SUPPORT
Are you ready for the inevitable?
The shock and awe of an emergency situation can be physically and intellectually paralyzing.
In Crisis, Every Second Counts.
Wise decisions and efficient actions need to happen at an accelerated pace.
How senior leadership “shows up” during a highly stressful situation is critical.
Understanding what has happened at the onset of a crisis is complex; often, so little is known at the beginning. Facts unfold over time, and while some frontline intelligence is quick to surface, usually the most important information comes to light in a slow, disjointed way. The quicker and more accurate the information is obtained, the faster the crisis team can transform what is known into an effective and more coordinated response.
Chaos and turmoil are often at the core of any significant business disruptor.
There are many distractions, assumptions, intense emotions, accusatory behaviors, and peripheral activities which may or may not be associated with or generated by the crisis. Anxiety-driven actions supplant more thoughtful and creative leadership and result in less than favorable decisions and outcomes.
Crisis Interception’s (CI) robust model of crisis leadership goes well beyond the traditional Public Relations (PR) support. Our services are quite likely, different from any vendor relationship you’ve previously had. You’re not hiring a publicist, a PR firm or engaging a management consultant. There are many facets of crisis leadership that must be supported simultaneously in an emergency situation.
Crisis is mission critical and time is of the essence.

Providing mental toughness and sound counsel, we are a diverse, reputable, on-demand crisis response team for high-profile individuals and companies of all sizes and industries. One of the unique benefits of engaging CI is to help clients navigate through the minefields of their personal or professional crisis by capitalizing on the depth and breadth of our diverse backgrounds. Tara Goodwin and Nancy Capistran are business veterans and crisis experts with more than 50 years of distinct insight allowing for fast-paced reaction time and consistent, high-quality work products.
Tara and Nancy view crisis situations through two different lenses. Nancy looks at what’s going on inside your company from a leadership perspective: identifying and responding appropriately to key internal and external stakeholders, understanding how to best manage organizational continuity when in a crisis, and how senior leaders “show up” during a crisis; leading by example is critically important during volatile times. Tara views the crisis from an external perspective – how the media is going to report it, how to communicate to your customers, how to deliver a right holding statement to stem the tide until you collect more information, why transparency and empathy must come through and effective ways to monitor social chatter. Two professionals asking different types of questions, fact-finding and working together with a common goal – to help you effectively manage your crisis and preserve your organization and reputation.
What You Can Expect From Us
The significant change events that occur during a crisis are complex and each situation is different with extreme, unstable conditions and many unknowns. Best supporting the unique essential elements required to resolve a contentious matter requires a nimble course of action. Effective crisis leadership depends upon an in-depth understanding of the facts (scope and scale) of what has happened combined with the most effective emergency response plan, crisis team, and actions to diffuse the situation.
Scope of Work:
Discovery phase (One of the most critical parts of our work together creates the foundation on which the response strategy is built. This includes but is not limited to a 90-minute situational analysis meeting.)
- Fact-finding – what happened and exactly what you are currently facing
- Key questions will be asked from both an internal impact and external impact perspective
- Assessing your current and potential risk profile based on the information obtained
- Robust discussion of potential response options based on the specifics shared with input from client, his/her lawyer and the CI team
- Once initial strategy is set, we identify the specific tactics (both work products – statements, emails, letters, videos, social media responses, etc. AND services that may include coaching, advising and training). At the close of this meeting, we are all in agreement with next steps and a deliverable timeline.
Tactical phase (Collateral creation, strategic dissemination and response guidance.)
- Identifying key audiences who must receive this information
Drafting the most appropriate collateral based on the various audiences involved
Finalizing materials with attorney and client feedback
Releasing materials as appropriate
Monitoring the situation and remaining nimble as the crisis cycle evolves
Preparing additional responses as needed
Watch, wait, monitor phase
- Providing piece of mind to clients as we are the safety net for future developments
